Ugh…

The problem with opening myself up to any and every opportunity is that I can’t say no. Guy asks for my number, I have to give it to him. Guy asks me out, I have to go out with him (at least once).

I went to the store just now to buy chips. Before leaving, I made sure I looked decent (Rule #1: Be a Creature Unlike Any Other). When I got there, a man with his daughter (probably about five or so) was looking at the chips aisle. I kind of love kids, so I sweetly told the little girl what my favorite chips are. She shyly hid behind her dad’s arm and smiled before grabbing the chips I had suggested. The father introduced himself to me, and I to him. After my purchase, I got in my car and prepared to drive off. As I was backing up, he came out and walked up to my window. I stopped, rolled down the window, and he asked for my number. So I begrudgingly gave it to him.

He’s not my type, and the fact that he has a kid further supported my reluctance. He texted me with his name and a photo of himself throwing up gang signs. I asked if the photo was a joke. He said it’s from a video shoot. Apparently he does “music,” but I’ll let you figure out what kind of “music” I get the feeling he does.

I don’t like that I had to give him my number. For the sake of the experiment, I really can’t turn anyone down lest I miss out on a potentially valuable addition to the story. I just hope he loses interest, because I have a feeling that he only has one thing on his mind that I’m not interested in giving him. But I have to have an open mind and at least give him a chance.

Not too thrilled about it, though. I guess we’ll call him David.
